how do i set up allies when playing

When i play against the computer in a single .... battle how do i set a computer player to be my allie.

you cant allie with comps. only humans

It's the same in ALL Westwood RTS games; click on the unit of the player with whom you wish to ally and press "a".

NOTE: the other player will have to click on one of your units and press "a" to ally with you (otherwise your units will not shoot at his units, but his units will shoot at your units).

isn't there a way to allie straight away before you start the game like in Tiberian Sun?

yea you can hit the tab button. and you dont have to do that with all his units.

and another one is.......if the guild carries all the spice...then why why why do u haf to ally with them...i mean if they carry ur spice 4 u then arnt they already ur ally????

huh? they trade 'Solaris' for yur spice in turn the sell Spice to other people for more Solaris (Am i right on this)

anyway you can't ally with everyone. The program should have a block for that

The Guild buys spice with solaris because their navigators need it to see a safe course through foldspace. They get their solaris by charging huge fines to transport troops, merchandise, raw materials etc.

CHOAM (Combine Honnette Ober Advancer Mercantiles) buys the spice, then turns around and sells it for a profit which is then divided by the people who own directorships. The Emperor controls the dispensation of directorships, whoever controls Arrakis automatically gets a large cut of the profits along with the Emperor.

*edit* I forgot to mention that CHOAM also controls pretty much every commodity you can think of in the Imperium, but Spice melange is by far the most lucrative.
