Ok, so my computer starts up, and the NVidia media center pops up in the bottom right corner of my screen. I don't want it to start up with my computer.

I checked startup folder, but it is not there.

I uncheck the Display media center icon in the taskbar, repeatedly, but it keeps getting checked everytime I go back into the settings (after reboot).

I checked the MSCONFIG and did not see anything related to the nvidia starting up.

This all started after I installed the latest drivers from nvidia.

I havn't reinstalled the drivers yet.

I know that evertime I update the drivers, the box gets reset, but I usually can just uncheck it afterwards and it works fine.

Ya now my windows media player doesn't seem to be working right. Although the last 2 days I went deleting files I thought were temporary and stuff in the windows directory. (although has nothing to do with nvidia problem.) Screen when video playing online video at the Daily Show website, is all messed up.[attachment archived by Gobalopper]

You and I (unfortunately, for us) have the same video card.  Is there any reason why you need the new drivers installed?  Almost all of the difference in them is just support for newer games like Doom 3, and with a TNT2 we won't be running that any time soon.  Barring some registry tinkering that I have no idea how to do, I'd reccomend just rolling back to an earlier driver.  Hell, I'm still on 44.03!  However, it might be a more serious problem if other video settings aren't retained every boot.  Do you know if it's just the media center icon that changes back every time you boot, or do other settings as well?

Andrew if your using Win XP,right click on My computer, select manage then services.

Look down the list for the Nvidia control panel, right click on the entry and select manual.

When you re-boot it won't start up.

I would recommend that you remove the Nvidia drivers in add/remove programs(control Panel)then re-install it.

Just the nvidia startup icon thingy changes back.

I tried what you said Atomic about the manager, but it didn't work.

Did you check your registry, and tried to disable the nVidia driver helper just to try ?

I wouldn't want to mess with my registry too much. Wouldnt know exactly what to do.

I will try reinstalling the driver. (uninstall first)

Ok, I uninstalled 2 nvidia things from control panel. Turns out I didn't uninstall the other one from before when I installed the new one, so it must've conflicted or something. Then I installed the latest drivers.

And now it works good.

Well that is exactly what I did. Just install over the old one.

Guess it didn't work this time.

It showed there were 2 installed in the add/remove programs, so I removed both of them and installed.

Ok, then I uninstalled the software for two nvidia things in the add/remove programs box.

When I did that it changed resolution to 800*600. But then I just installed the latest drivers and then changed the resolution and stuff.

Anywho, my problem is solved, due to conflicts most likely from 2 different software versions becuase I didn't uninstall previous versions. (Don't ask me why it couldn't just overwrite it like it nornally does.)
