Well, I have 3 applications on my computer capable of playing a DVD from my DVD-ROM drive. Thsese are:

Mediaplayer Classic

PowerDVD

BSPlayer

Now, each of these has problems. In Mediaplayer Classic and BSPlayer the DVD will run, but extremely juddery and slowly at times, with the audio too sounding jumpy and out-of-synch. On PowerDVD, I'm given the error message of:

"Error Code: 80900004

ASPI for Windows is not available.

Only a 32-bit CD-ROM driver is supported.

Please make sure a 32-bit CD-ROM driver is installed."

I have downloaded an ASPI Layer checker and it tells me I have ASPI installed and it's fine, I even tried reinstalling the layer anyway, although I'm not sure if it actually did it since it just said ASPI layer existing and running fine etc. Any help or ideas?

Thanks in advance.  :)

It may not be the program it all, it could just be the player.  Sometimes the ones in computers are extremely weak.  I know mine is.  Sucks ass.

Well, I don't think it's the player, more likely the drivers/codecs or similar. But yeah, they're pathetic, and I guess it could well be a hardware fault.  :-

I suspect your DVD drive. . just to make shure check the connections and jumper settings.

Which Windows version do you use and how are things conncted, primairy IDE and secundairy  .. things like that...

not shure, but think it could be a CDrom setting or a acceleration setting somewhere. I had a simualr error when I tried to view DVD's with Windows 2003.. . you need to enable all kinds of software settings. ..

Probably a wrong guess of mine. ..This is the support for PowerDVD. .

Q: What do these error codes mean: '80900004', '80900012', '80900015', & '80900016'?

A :With regards of these error codes, they may be caused when ESDI driver or ASPI Manager is not compatible.

Please kindly try the following to resolve the problem:

(1) First, please uninstall PowerDVD program.

(2) For PowerDVD 3.0 users, kindly please update your program with the latest patch file at the link below.

(3) For PowerDVD 4.0 users, kindly please refer to the link below, and download the Windows ASPI Package to update (For Windows 98/98 SE/ME).

(4) Re-install PowerDVD program
