You need to use DuneEx/DuneEx 2 Beta to create a new archive. Have you tried using any of these programs before?

I have no real idea why you need both an rfd with a rfh file to go together when creating an archive, but you will notice that the rfd file is the much larger file, which suggests that that's where all the packed files are stored in the archive. The rfh file may just be like an 'index' file that is used to access and list the contents of the rfd file, but that's just a guess. :)

As for the compression, it varies on the file you're adding to the archive. I would say compression ratios are comparable, if not better than normal/maximum compression on a Winzip archive. Like I said, it really depends on the file you're adding to the archive. I couldn't see any real pattern between compression ratios, based on the file type. Some .tga files only compress by 5%, other .tga files achieved ~55% compression. That's really all I can say, having not done much research into this area, nothing is rock solid.

The only difference I can remember is that DuneEx 2 Beta should save extracted files with the correct extension (extracting Rules.txt in DuneEx gave me a simple 'Rules' file, with no .txt extension, while extracting the same file under DuneEx 2 Beta gave me a Rules.txt file). I think there were changes made to the UI as well, but like I said, it's been a long time since I've used DuneEx.

Under DuneEx2, use the 'Add File' command under the 'Action' menu, to add files to the list of files in the archive. Then all you have to do is save the archive with whatever name you need.
