There are suicides in every culture.

And more often than not, the culture has nothing to do with it. If a Christian man asks to be shot, does that show there's something wrong with Christian culture, or with this particular man's psyche?

Perhaps the many Christianity-based cults around the world? The many death cults or pagan ones (not that all pagan cults are automatically death cults, but some are)?

But this is besides the point. One of your own sources, emprworm, says

Getting HIV, according to the Carlos et al., generates a primal erotic experience (Is this the time it happens?), a conversion experience ("Breed me! Seed me!"), a sense of community and belonging ("The more we are, the stronger we are") and, subsequently, the thrill of infecting others, whether they want the experience or not.

Thus death is not the point. The point is to experience something special to the person involved. This may not be entirely rational from the point of view of other people but if you think about it (difficult for some...) it is a reasonable view, provided it is not forced on others.

EDIT: Ever hear of 'minority,' Gunwounds?

here is my response, and my point:

Harmful.  Destructive.  Psychotic.  Delusional.  Those are just a few words I can use to describe that kind of sadistic desire.

yes, consider yourself lucky.

Edrico is the only person I have nothing to say to.  Since he hides behind his power to lock threads, however I gladly dialogue with everyone else

since you cannot excercise dictatorial power over my posts, I gladly jump to the occasion to dialogue.

go to google and type in the word "Dirkhising"

Perhaps because the media has more important things to deal with right now.

And how exactly is seeing it as positive (I shall ignore the, ahem, 'wit') a bad thing? For myself I remain completely neutral towards this phenomenon, does it thus harm me? Nope.

Well, Dust, I suppose you could run into a fellow that you are quite taken with, only to discover that he, in his youthful foolishness, was "seeded". Then again, if he was completely honest with you, you needn't be infected -- but I am sure you would be disappointed.

But, this is all really speculative.

Whether I found the concept repulsive or not does not make a difference in that example. If he told me, it;s my choice to make. If he didn't, I'm unaware. Either way, my opinions on the matter do not enter the equation. Try again.

Wait... "If he didn't, I'm unaware." Meaning, you are all right with being infected with HIV/AIDS without your knowledge? I would imagine that that affects you quite a lot. And even if he did tell you, you would be left with a rather distressing choice, in my opinion. What's with this "try again" stuff?

dustscout is saying that his opinions on poz-load are not what would be blamed for him being affected by a poz-load.

To me that is irrelevant... he stated that because he is neutral towards the concept of poz-load and thus does not seek out poz-loads... that he cannot be affected by HIV or that he is somehow immune to getting HIV due to his neutral stance on poz-load.

However Wolfwiz you clearly demonstrated how

*Sigh* My point is that if, in this example, I run into a man who I am attracted to who has undertaken this procedure there are several options.

1) He tells me, we decide to play it safe.

2) He doesn't tell me, mistakes may occur.

Alright so there were only two. But no matter which option it is, my neutral opinion of other people willingly being infected does not enter the equation. If I were against it, same options. If I were supporting it, same options. Harm might occur though option two but it would occur whether I supported the procedure or not.

The point was not that it might harm me, the point, and listen carefully now, was that it would harm me or not harm me regardless of my opinion of it.

To me that is irrelevant... he stated that because he is neutral towards the concept of poz-load and thus does not seek out poz-loads... that he cannot be affected by HIV or that he is somehow immune to getting HIV due to his neutral stance on poz-load.

Wrong!

Well, Dust, that led me to believe that your netrality lent itself to your being not-harmed, regardless. Furthermore, you simply asked "Do tell me how, please", when Gunwounds challenged you. We responded. However, we thank you for clarifying. And, if I might say so, I think the matter at hand is not to change your opinion on the procedure, but to convince you that it can be of harm to you. Why this doesn't affect your opinion of it is beyond me.

Having a positive opinion of something does not mean you automatically partake in it. That's why I'm not a Buddhist.

And I do not automatically dislike things that can harm me. Look at bees. They can harm me. But I'm rather fond of the furry li'l guys. Last one in the house got a free spoonfull of sugar water...

I've read about his murder, and tried to respond to the conclusions you drew from its lack of coverage.

Emprworm refuses to talk to me?

THANK YOU, GOD!

;D

(I suppose it's pointless to remind Emprworm that I only locked one thread - which, by the way, did not concern me or my political opinions - because he was degrading 1 billion people in it...)

Dan do you really expect me to believe that had Dirkhising been a young gay boy and the older boys were straight males that the media attention would not have been Barnum and Bailey style?

its the homophobia in the media that drives them to silence when gays commit hate crimes against themselves and against religious people.

Religious people that commit hate crimes against gays will most likely always be highlighted in the media.

homophobia in the media is pervasive, and systemic.

This is why I like Fox news.  Only fox news (of all the news networks) put equal emphasis on Dirkhising as Sheppard.
