So are you inferin that generals is fu**** until i get a new video card?

There must be another way, and thats what the others im hoping will find....

If you use ctrl, alt ,delete then select the processers tab, try closing down some processers.

Not the ones marked System though !

See if there are any extensions you recognise, that you know for sure you don't need.

If you close the wrong proc.then simply re-boot, to put evereything back to normal again.

For instance if you have any video apps running , look at the right hand column and you will see how much memory each running process is using.

I even saw it playing Generals at his house fine, it has to be something else.

just a guess at this time. . mayby a bit radical .. is Generals the only game giving errors ?

if not you might want to reinstall Windows. . .

Do you have anything like DVD apps or Power cinema running.Open the Nvidia control panel and see if side band addressing is enabled or fast writes.

Also see what agp speed your card is set too, trying setting it to a lower setting, see if that works.

This is the only game I have seen this problem with....

Well... let me think what lc didnt try.... maybe that side addressing thing... it cant be the textures... maybe your cd is jammed? if so then it would solve the case... (i can get ya no cd patch)

EDIT: sorry its not a cd problem...  tell me, what did you do before it happend? after how long since your last normal game the black ground appeared?

Must have been a couple of weeks since I played a unaffected game.

I would sorta doubt it was the software because both generals and zero hour are effected.

Im gonna install on another computer to check though.

I dont rember changing any settings

maybe i could do a syster restore and turn back the clock..... i would have to backup the files i have gotten since the restore time but that is duable

The only other suggestion I can make apart from getting a better graphics card, is to take out your present card and re-seat it in the slot again, this sometimes helps.

Did you read my mind or something? ??? your creepy dude...
