Here is a solar system that I made up complete from scratch of the Delta Pavonis solar system (Caladan). I took my own artistic liscence to it and did not include ideas from the prequels. Tell me waht you guys think overall, and try to cut back on the nitpicky stuff.lol beh, if you want to its okay, I would be nitpicky to other people if they made a mistake with something like this.lol again tell me waht you think! took a couple days because I didnt have the info from the DE like I did this one. (There is a story I took from the DE I put on Caladan, but that is because I wanted to harmonize this with the DE. the rest is my thinking.)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1: Delta Pavonis:
A class G5 star. It is very similar to that of Sol, the mother star. It is only a bit cooler, and only slightly larger. Class' F to K are called "tranquel stars", as they usually have tempuratures and amount of radiation perfect for harboring life. It is only about 19 lightyears from Sol, and one of the earliest stars descovered with a life sustaining sattilite. Two in fact were found, but one of which disappeared by unknown causes, (obviously from some kind of unknown catastrophy) Harmonthep. It is believed that the astroid belt between Agamemnon and Deloran contain the remains of the lost planet.
2: Agamemnon: Radius: 21,242.245 kilometers, Day Length: 3008.24 hours.
An anomaly of astronamy.The planet orbits so close to the sun that the matter on the surface has turned to high density plasma. The core of the planet is most likely carbon in some sort of exotic matter state. The most prevalent theory indicates that a molecule in large quantities once filled the surface of the planet, that of Carbon hydroxide. The extreme conditions of matter at the surface though through time stripped the molecules. The Carbon then settled down into the deepest portions of the planet, eventually making up a large portion of the core with the other prime elements of helium, oxygen hydrogen. The gas at the surface cannot support any sort of molecular structure, so the remaining atoms of Carbon hydroxide, namely hydrogen and oxygen stay atop the surface of the planet, bombarded with so much radiation that the matter has gone beyond it's gaseous state and turned to plasma.
3: Mandahl Astroid Belt:
A relatively new addition to the solar system, and carries with it objects that are as large as 15 kilometers across. Because it is so erratic, there are stations between the belt and Talvus for security of Caladan against any oncoming objects large enough to cause catastrophy. It does have benefits, primarily that of mining. The ores are largely that of nickel, zink, titanium, and iron. Some of the ores suggest that the belt was once a planet, and there have been a few who believe that it was once Harmonthep, one of the temporary settlements of the Zensunni wonderers. Because there surprisingly was little activity around delta pavonis after the jihad, there is little information on where or how Harmonthep was lost. Because of this there are many scientific, and pseudo scientific (crack-pot) theories on how it disappeared.
4: Talvus: Radius: 2,458.43 kilometers, Day Length: 9.025 hours.
Basically a big rock in space. It is composed largely of silicon, carbon, titanium, and iron ore. It is suprisingly dense and takes up a small bite of the overall weight of the solar system. There have been ventures of mining for the fairly substancial amounts of titanium on the planet, but nothing of the sort by House Atreides has been done of yet.
5: Caladan: Radius: 7,239.422 kilometers, Day Length: 24.0024 hours. Satellite(s): Feilott (a). Radius: 1034.29 kilometers, Day Length: 2054.0001 hours.
After giving much needed support to House Corrino in defeating a rebelling House, Elrood the 8th gave a new title to Paulos the 16th in the year 8711, After Guild. From then on he would be known as Siridar-Duke of Caladan. Caladan is a lush, water-world with an abundance of agricultural promise. The good Dukes of Atreides took advantage of this and ever since Caladan has been an example to all other Houses of how a planet should be run. The atmosphere of the planet is composed largely of nitrogen, oxygen and argon. It has no seasonal change because of a large water vapor canopy that surrounds the upper atmosphere of the planet. This insulates it and keeps it moist and tropical across the entire surface.It has one major satellite called Feilott, a small and ordinary moon composed largely of the same material as Caladan itself. There are two smaller satellites, one is 5 kilometers across, and the other 2 kilometers. Basically they are trapped asteroids. They are either expected to crumble into smaller particles, or break away from the gravitational pull of Caladan in just a few million years.
6: Dawied: Radius: 4,992.023 kilometers, Day Length: 16.81 hours.
Dawied is a small planet with a thick atmosphere of sulpheric compounds. It is such a caustic and hostile environment that only few studies have been made of the planet's surface. It is composed largely of Silicon, Iron, calcium, and other trace amounts of ores. The atmosphere is filled with clouds, and from a distance it is extremely beautiful, but it holds a sinister reality. The clouds rain a liquid acid which is extremely volitile to any sort of organic material.There are large lakes spotted across the surface which are made entirely of these corrosive acids. No life has been found on Dawied.
7: Celest: Radius: 84,004.99 kilometers, Day Length: 8.201 hours. Satellite(s): Galileo. (a) Radius: 1401.332 kilometers, Day Length 54 hours, Posiden, (b) Radius: 702.004 kilometers, Day Length: 1023.01 hours, Metron, © Radius: 652.01 kilometers, Day Length: 203.003 hours, Vorain, (d) Radius: 998.221 kilometers, Day Length, 82.24 hours, Ixion, (e) Radius: 1402.2 kilometers, Day Length, 2.43 hours.
A gas giant. Rather typical, composed largely of ammonia, methane, hydrogen, and helium, with other trace amounts of gases. It is a way station for the deep fringes, and for what it lacks in originality, it makes up in the diversity in it's moons.There are dosens of satellites orbiting Celest, but only 5 are large enough to be considered primary moons.
Galileo:  Named after the first discoverer of non-terran moons. It has a thick atmosphere largely made of methane and carbon dioxide. Life has been discovered within the lakes of the planet. Small plant microbes which are at this moment excreating small amounts of oxygen. This action is said by many to be the main process by which atmospheres become oxygenated. It is indeed a promising ground for biological growth, and is observed by two orbital science stations which are constantly staffed.
Posiden: A moon of ice, the entire surface covers a length of cracked icy sheets. Beneath it is a freezing ocean, with spots at the surface of the ocean floor where life has sprung. hydrothermal vents enable small pockets of life to exist for as long as the spires spew out their contents. settlments of creatures have adapted at many of the large clusters of vents, and some of the creatures even show a sense of awareness that is quite unique. These creatures are called funnel crabs. Even though the creatures arent crabs, they do have the uncanny resembelence of them, but for some reason they do the oddest thing. They build large structures of polygonal shapes, and guard them with such intelligence and ingenuity that some have wondered if they show a very primitive form of creativity. Underwater stations have been settled on the hills of the ocean surface.
Metron: The electro magnetism of the moon is close to that of a star. it is so dense that no living thing can even come near to orbit. In fact it gives almost as much of it as Celest itself. Another odd anomaly is the fact that Celest and Metron "feed" off of eachother. Celest gives off positively charged ions at an immence rate, and metron itself gives off negatively charged ions. These effects that Metron has makes it practically impossible to come anywhere near it without shorting out electronics, or polerizing the hull of the ship. When ships do travel near, (usually heading to Galileo or Posiden) they have to wait until Metron is behind Celest. It takes tricky manouvering and good speed to get to and fro.
Vorain: Considered one ofthe most beautiful moons of any solar system. It is composed of gas, and is one of only five solar systems found to have the odd anomaly of a gaseus moon orbiting a gas giant. Mainly because it was thought that anything that small couldnt have a strong enough gravitational force to hold itself together. The gasses differ in color from one another in certain parts of the planet. Both the northern and southern tips of the planet contain predominantly methane gas. This gives it a greenish hue at the tips. The central band itself is composed of a nitrate compound that gives off a bluish hue. A famous counsel member and priest of Caladan said once, "That giant christmas ball up there [Vorain] hugging Celest is one of those things that proves to me the existance of a diety." It was named after one of the most beautiful women of Caladan, with whom shared the bed of one of the Dukes of Caladan.
Ixion: Named after an ancient Terran myth of a being stuck in the ether of heaven, eternally spinning like a cog in a clock. Ixion has an extremely fast day span, and because of that it is hard to observe from a distance. It is relatively uninteresting physically, composed of the same materials most dead moons are made of, the the odd speed with which it spins has made it yet another anomaly of the Celest system.
8: Kallistos: Radius: 59,043.334 kilometers, Day length: 10.23 hours. Satellite(s) Basilios. (a) Radius: 1,304.232 kilometers, Day Length: 52.002 days. Theotelos. (b) Radius: 2,492.01 kilometers, Day Length: 36.33 days.
The second and smaller of the gas giants. Kallistos was named after the son of Paulos the 16th, first Duke of Caladan. It is a rather typical planet with an elemental composition that gives it an aqua green hue. It is substancially smaller than Celest, but is actually more dense. Both have a positive polarity, and because of this there is a very faint electro magnetic rift between the two. It is of no real concern because of it's lack of use economically.
Basilios: Named after the first son of Kallistos the 3rd, second Duke of Caladan: It is a typical moon, containing the elements that most moons have. The lack of value and dullness of it was the reason it was named Basilios. Basilios killed his younger brother Theotelos, and was banished because of it. Ever since, the name Basilios has been a a curse among the Atreides.
Theotelos: Named after the second son of Kalistos the 3rd. It is unusual in that the low lands are composed of a different element than the highlands. The lowlands is composed of a rocky compound that has low reflectivity, while the highlands has the exact opposite spectrum of reflectivity. This gives it an extremely contrasting visiage. one lump of the planet is black while the other is bright white. The eccentric orbit of Theotelos is such that we rarely get to view the black side of the planet.
9: Fadus: Radius: 3,00.23 kilometers, Day Length: 49.02 hours.
Fadus and Florus are "planetary twins". Many scientists believe that they were once one larger planet, but that some sort of collision in the distant past split it apart. The impact must have been so great as to seperate the masses to drift seperately in their own orbit around Delta Pavonis. Fadus and Florus are identical in their elemental compositions.
10: Florus: Radius: 1,922.2 kilometers, Day Length: 52.24 hours.
Florus is the smaller of the two "planetary twins", and is the farthest planet of the solar system. It has one extremely large impact crator on one of it's hemispheres. The orbits of the two planets are slightly eccentric, moving in a 20 degrees tilted orbit.
vanguard is right, I dont take much at all from the prequels, unless it is really interesting, and I must admit there are a few really really cool things that brian and kevin have come up with. (One is C'tair, and another is erasmus (too lazy to get the exact spelling out of my butlerian jihad book.lol) I started it as an intro to my Celestia thing. I really have to be speculative, and if you guys dont like it I wont put the info up, I dont want to come up with complete crap to place it in as fan fiction. I think it is pretty neat though.hehe
Tell me what you guys think, I am posting the zip file for celestia today of the canopus system.
