I was thinking about the common points between the Bible and Dune, especially now, when I see new additions of Herbert's son for the saga. As well as Bible, it has own law, own history, large timeline, even we can say it is still acting in genetically closed number of people. And also we have in it poesy and wise sayings, sometimes I would say even prophecies. Yet it can't be a real manifest of religion, but I consider it as an ideal sci-fi bible. Let's compare:

Dune 1-6: Tora/Evangelium

Here are set main "rules" of Dune, most important points in Dune universe's history.

House prequels: Prophets

Here authors many times show "prophecy" about a messiah, as well as history of acts before his comes.

History books: Chronicles, Judges

Here may be little confusion - Chronicles were in timeline after Tora, tough Butlerian Djihad and Machine Crusade are after. If we think about Frank's work as Evangelium, it is usable. In history books were set roots for the politics as well as Israel in case of Bible as for Dune empire.

Songs of Muad'Dib, sayings in novels: Preacher, songs

Weird, but I don't think there is much base difference between Psalms and Songs of Muad'Dib. Also if we would collect the sayings inside all novels, we would create one new big book - some kind of Macchiavelli Preacher ;D

FED2k work 8) : Epistoles

Much work was done by fans, which, I have to say, are the "apostles" who make the Duniverse living. We can say this about all who made something about Dune.

Dune 7, 8, 9...: Apocalypse

Everything ends once. But even Jesus said he will be back soon; and we wait the third century...

Sounds interesting.

I was wondering if they would ever make any dune pocket books, like they do to the bibles. So you can bring the Dune books with you wherever you go.

Would be nice.

Another comparison: They're both complete works of fiction! Although Dune is more believable and interesting and applicable to everyday life etc...
