I don't know what you mean exactly. But you need to have the game installed before you can play online.

And you also need the cd inserted, unless you are joining a LAN game

yes you can play dune2000 on-line or the missions or in practice mode without the dune2000 cd , i havn`t had the dune2000 cd for about 2 years but i play on-line about 4 times a week , first though you will need to get a copy of dune2000 , and install it on to your computer , then you need to install the dune2000 no cd patch , then you can play without the cd , (it actually plays quicker from your hard drive than the cd) if you dont know where to find the no cd patch , message me , and ill e-mail it to you.....
