Wolf
I've installed, reinstalled, and patched Emperor, and still this game will not work. When I insert any House CD, the menu appears. I click, naturally, on "Play". The menu disappears, and our beloved Emperor loading screen appears informing me that Dino de Laurentis has his rights concerning material in the game. This loading screen disappears, the tower churns for a little bit, but the game will never start. Time will pass, and even though the game appeared to be loading, it just sits at the desktop. Pressing ctrl-alt-delete will reveal that no programs are running, especially not Emperor. If anyone can tell me what is wrong, I would seriously appreciate it. My computer runs Windows XP, and I think that that might be a problem. Thanks for your time, and I hope you can help me get Emperor up and running again. Andrew
Do you have any antivirus programs on your computer? do you have the latest drivers for your computer? Can you attach your directx file? Was emperor working on this computer at a previous time? Wolf
This is a new computer, Emperor has never worked on it. I have Norton AntiVirus running in its usual ambient checking mode. I have the latest drivers for this computer. Directx is updated as well, but I'm afraid that I'm a software noob and do not know what you mean by attach the directx. Andrew
Try this thread that has to do with Norton:http://www.dune2k.com/forum/?board=4;action=display;threadid=8463To attach your directx file go to start-->Run-->type in dxdiag -> then click on save all information at bottom of the program --> rename it to something like your name, then upload it onto you message. Wolf
None of that seems to be working. To what degree should I disable Norton? Also, how should I use the Emperor Fix file located in that thread?
Atomic Mitten
If your running win xp don't. I can run Emp no problems without the fix !
Atomic Mitten
Try un-installing emp, then Norton.Re.install Norton then Emp, then the V1.09 patch.
Andrew
I think Nyar said that if you try (in another recent thread) and uninstall emperor, uninstall NAV, then install emperor with all the updates for it and see if it works. (without installing NAV)
gryphon
Andrew's way is the correct one in order to know if the malfunctioning of Dune Emperor is related to Norton.. ..If that doesn't give you any results you havn't lost anything, just a little time in reinstalling. . .. Atomic Mitten
I found that if one re-installs NAV before Emp, then Norton recognise's Emp and you can allow Emp to use the Internet when asked. This might seem strange but: have you got an LG CD ROM CRD8521B,by any chance ? gryphon
Could you attach your direct X diag file ?[ you can get it by running dxdiag and saving the outcome to a text file which you upload to here ]Is it a fresh install and have you patched it or tried other things already ?
