Well I must admit I have the swap file set to 1 Gb, because it was recommended for running Emp and other games.

About my MOBO it supposedly supports AGP 2.0.

1 X 2 X and 4 X.

It is indeed a strange problem.

The only way I can get Generals Demo to run is by setting AGP rate to 1 X and side band addressing on.

Also I close all unnecessary processors running in the background.

By the time i've done all that, I hardly want to play it anymore.lol

Well, it must be a confict somewhere.

I don't really know where, as it may vary from computer to computer.
