JRR Tolkien and CS Lewis

a few of you guys probably know this story, but many dont. I have known about it for awhile and always thought is was interesting, finally decided to post about it.

It is really interesting that they both were professors at the same college, they both were apart of the same clubs, had the same friends, they considered eachother best friends, also it wasent CS Lewis who was the christian at the beginning.

I found out that he originally was a pretty staunch athiest. JRR Tolkien though talked with him once about christ and actually converted CS Lewis. Tolkien would always call him a fellow brother, and they stayed great friends the rest of their lives. I just thought is was really neat.

They were professors at oxford. If I remember right, CS Lewis was a professor of liturature, and Tolkien a professor of languages. both were extremely popular to the students and both were obvious success' at writing novels. lol

and jrr tolkiens birthday is coming in a week...

so to celebrate this i burn all things relating to him..books....movies, posters, cerel boxes.....

Lol, it is a great story. I would be very surprised if they didn't influence each other's writing in some way.

yeah I totally agree. the similarities in narnia chronicals and lord of the rings are great. either they influenced eachother, or a more plausable idea to answer the question.

they both grew up loving to hear ancient myth, especially british legend like king aurthor and such. They both used all sorts of mythological stuff obviously

Though most fantasy now days is patterned after the lord of the rings, he patterned his ideas off of ancient lore.
