I tried, I'm sorry, but I can't get Emperor to run

Hi guys

I'm trying desperately to get Emperor to run on my XP machine but I get the splash screen and then nothing. I have a P4 2.4 with 1Gb RAM, DirectX 9.0b and the latest nVidia drivers (GeForce4mx card)

I tried to search the site for the answer but I'll be b*ggered if I can find it

Anyone got any ideas? Please! I ain't played it in ages and I want to get back into it!

Most of it is mentioned here. Basically we need a directX diag file, and the most common errors can be overcome by using the WinXP compatebilety mode. Patching Emperor, uninstalling Norton antivirus or Nero if you should have that.

Some smaller changes can be helped bby changing the DMA settings of your CDrom drive or adding the " +w" in the shortcut of Dune Emperor. Also mention here. Although you already found that topic. . ;)

I don't mind you butting in :)

Normally speaking you're right though about the drivers. Although lately I've been troubleshooting several Generals issues. Someone posted that as soon as he downgraded his drivers to 21.83, Generals worked.. Mind you, this was a "older" nvidia card, not one of the new FX's (in that case you're right).
