I was thinking, and I decided that of all the words and phrases in the English language, the phrase "Heart-Break" and all its variations(heart ache, heart broken, etc) are the words that do the WORST job of conveying their intended meaning. Many phrases do a decent job of getting accross what they are describing, but the words "heart-broken" do not.

Can anyone here think of a phrase or word(s) that would better fit the feeling that "heart broken" is trying to convey?

In slovak language we have the metaphore describing ending a relationship, or disagreeing to start one as a "zlomene srdce", "broken heart". As a verb, it is "zlomit srdce", "to break heart".

what I mean is: Can you think of any phrase in the English language that does a worse job of getting across its meaning than the term "Heart Broken" I mean, the phrase sounds so neat and clean, when it is ment to convey the most horrid feeling that a person could ever comprehend. we need a new phrase, something like "Soul Shattered" or "Spirit destroyed" Something like that. That is a little bit more accurate. Those are just my suggestions though, any others would be appriciated.

its closer than broken heart, but still inefficiant, ya.

Have you ever felt heartbreak? I dont know how to describe it, but I am trying to figure out better words to describe it. I have been thinking, and I cant think of anything.
