Telephone adapters for none U.K. phones

Thanks Doc, so to make things simple Blue and orange on the bt jack to socket(male) are the so called hot wires ?

And if I connect either through a Bt conn. box or a German Bt box connected to the U.K. conn box it should work ?

I managed to get my German/Philips Fax/Phone to work O.K. but the line seems quite low on volume, I often have a problem hearing someone.

What I really wanted to do was extend my phone line from the entry conn box to my PC using high quality 4 core line cable, as my line has a 54 db of noise on it !and I wasn't sure which wires to connect to.Active inner or active outer wires on the plugs ?

I was told this would improve my DSL connection ?

To be exact, the active wires on a UK phone jack are 2 and 5.
