Problems with my CD-R/RW

If you can remember, I had alot of trouble installing my Memorex CD Burner. It took me over a week to figure out how to get it to work along with the DVD drive and the Hard Drive. I ended up giving up on the DVD drive and just putting the CD Burner as the Master device on the Secondary IDE Port, and the Hard Drive as the Master on the Primary. I would still like to get my dvd player to work, but that isn't my top priority right now. It happened a little bit before, but now it is happening all of the time. It happened before I reformated a little bit, and it did a little after, but now it is all of the time. I am unable to burn a CD. It does not come up with any errors, but what happens is that once it starts to burn(Nero) the CD starts to spin, and the orange light is supposed to come on. It spins really fast, like it is trying to read the disk, then it dies. Then it speeds up again than it dies. I then stop the burning, but the disc will not stop doing that, and the burner will not open. i have to restart the computer for it to come out. I really need to get some cds burned soon, is there any quick fix for it?

Memorex 52x24x52

Nero Burning Rom(Tried others too, they don't work either)

Using the Discs that it came with(800MB 52X compatible)

Tried Multi Speed 740 MB Discs

Tried updating everything there was on Windows updates

Tried reinstalling the driver, but it's kinda weird, it must do it automatically or something, because it never runs the program(it's dos), the only option is to copy it to floppy, so i went into windows explorer and ran the program, and it was really weird.

And I tried unplugging everything and plugging it back in. nothing seems to work, any help?

At what speed did you try to burn ? Have you tried a lower speed ? Alos, what OS are you using ? I have currently problems getting my Plextor cd burner to work in Windows XP Pro... (I will figure it out though :))

i use xp pro. but i have been trying to burn at 52x. ill try 24x now.

just to make shure, have you only be using the disk that came with the CD-R drive ? And if so, it's a CD-RW disk and not a CD-R one I presume ?

24x did not work. neither did 32x. and i have tried the disc they gave me(CD-R), the other one(CD-RW), and my own TDK discs, none of them work.

Does device manager show anything ?

Do you know what that question mark is representing an other unknown device ?

If so install the drivers for that one.
