I recently transfered Dune from my fried P2 computer to a new 2.1ghz 128 mb video ram computer that runs on Windows XP. I press play through the autorun and nothing happens. It thinks for a while and then nothing. Half the reason for getting a computer was to revisit such a great game. Does anyone have any suggestions.

Thanks

I am using Windows XP home version. I do not use either anti-virus or internet security. As for the compatibility mode (if that is the diagonostic provided by the game to ensure 100% compliance, i check out fine). I am unsure what Nyarlathotep means by attaching my dxdiag. Once again, the computer gets to the transitional "little" box between the autorun screen and the game but no further. It appears that the website golden eagle sent me is invalid: Westwood appears to have closed it :(

Compatibility mode: Right click on the game icon on your desktop and select properties. Select the compatibility tab and select Win 98. Then try to play the game.

Dxdiag: Go to Start, then click Run and type there dxdiag. Anew screen will pop up. Run the tests on the sound and display/video tab. Once done, go back to the first tab again and click the save all info botton. Save it as a txt file and attach it to your reply here.

The link works for me as well now. Very odd. But refreshing to know that it (the link) does work. Thanks guys for all of your help and i will try and see tommorow evening (my time) if these measures can clear this up. Thanks again, Motor.

The compatibility switch over and the previous .zip suggestions did not fix the problem. I will reinstall Dune again to make sure i didnt botch either approach. Once again the problem is that it does not progress from the autorun to the game and it matters not whether i put the disc in my dvd drive or cd-rw drive.

Thanks again for all the help,

8) I found the scourge of my nightmares. My new computer had came with a demo of Norton's (2003) and it was in the start menu only (non-desktop). After reading other tech forums, i decided to uninstall NVA '03. After doing this the game works perfectly.

Thanks again for all of your help!
