I have the Windows95 compatable version (the one with upgraded XvT-like graphics) of Tie Fighter by LucasArts. The first time I play after installing it, it runs fine. But after I quit and try to go back in, it tells me I need to install DirectX 5.2. The thing is, I have DirectX 9.0a.

Attached is my DXdiag.

I have tried comapatability mode, no luck.[attachment archived by Gobalopper]

when you go into the game for the first time, try disabling the sound then exit and reopen the game.

I figure some older games have problems with sound.

Thats all I can think of.(although if it were a sound oriented problem, I would recomend VDMsound to open the game...but we should see what others think.

Grr...

Star Wars: TIE Fighter (Windows 95/98 version)

NOTE: Not supported for use with the Windows XP Operating System.

We have determined through customer input along with LEC testing that the game experiences various incompatibilities which cannot be resolved by means of standard troubleshooting.

OK, I am NOT happy right now. >:(
