Well, it's certainly possible for people to be mistaken about this creature. It might have originally been a walking ape (certain species walk on their hind legs all the time), and then exaggerated to a hairy man beast. Most of the so-called "evidences" is fake, but there may be mistaken truth in it.

First of all facts are facts. Maybe 4.5 billion years ago a giant ape was create an as the world turned old so i the ape and grew into a hairy ball.

Well actually one of guy's family members have stated that a lot of supposed evidence and hype for bigfoot was a hoax. http://www.thestate.com/mld/state/4675776.htm

And the film probably is as well.

I especially liked this statement:

To use an analogy borrowed from investigator Joe Nickell, just because a small percentage of homicides remain unsolved doesn't mean that we invoke a "homicide gremlin"-appearing out of thin air to take victims' lives-to explain the unsolved crimes. It is not that such cases are unexplainable using known science, just that not enough (naturalistic) information is available to make a final determination.

We should also remember the whole Abbagoochie incident. http://www.museumofhoaxes.com/newsletter/abbagoochie.html
