Homeworld and Homeworld: Cataclysm

What are the diferences between these games??

I have HW: Cataclysm but I have never played the original HW.

Can I play the HW mods with HW: cataclysm??

I don't think so. Homeworld Cataclysm has the same engine, a little improved perhaps, and a bit sharper graphix. The biggest difference with the original HW is that you have 2 different races now. The beast is a lot different than the Hiigaran. However, i like the first HW better than HW Cataclysm, i preferred HW's ships though. I think the design was better. For the rest, combat is the same. You have mostly the same ship classes. You do not have ramming frigates and no mimic like things. However you get different classes in return.

the original HW has more ships i think, and same upgrades. Also in HW you cannot upgrade your mothership, and it cannot move, except for hyperspace. Well that's most of the differences i think. If you like Cataclysm, i advice that you buy Homeworld too. Even now, as it is still a great game, and the graphix are still good.
