*Installing Maps for Dummies*

There are too many people online who ask how to install a map yet many want to do so... this must mean the current information available to install a map is inadequate.. i will explain the process step by step.

1.) go here ----> http://www.dune2k.com/?page=files-emperor&show=fanmaps

and download which maps you want.... download them to your desktop.

2.) go here ---> http://www.dune2k.com/files/filedb/?action=download&id=48

and download the mappacker... this helps you install maps correctly. It is a must have. Download it onto your desktop.

3.) Unzip the mappacker. It automatically unzips to the emperor directory that you have.

4.) Go to your c: Drive

5.) open your westwood folder.

6.) open your emperor folder.

7.) open your Mappacker folder.

8.) take the maps files you downloadded and place them in your CMAPS folder.

9.) Now double click on the mappacker program that is in the Mappacker folder.

10.) Click on the settings tab.

11.) you will see two areas for directories.

12. dont worry about the top one.

13.) we will work with the bottom one.

13.) click on the folder icon to the right of the bottom

directory field window.

14. this will allow you to browse and find where your new maps are.

15. point the directory to your CMAPS folder.

16.) it should read C:/westwood/emperor/mappacker/CMAPS

17.) go to the UNPACK tab and select a map and unpack it by pressing UNPACK.

18.) Now you are ready to play !!

There are tons of cool maps.. please download them...

this adds the spice back into the game. i know your all tired of the same maps.

For what ever reason Navoraos has found the need to make his own how to on maps even though Gunwounds and Ixian had that covered. Maybe it's becasue they are on his Ignore list and he didn't know there was already a " How To " on installings maps. Whatever the reason... I'm sure its just as helpful as Guns and Ixians.

8.) take the maps files you downloadded and place them in your CMAPS folder.

9.) Now double click on the mappacker program that is in the Mappacker folder.

Just a note:

You need to run the MapPacker program at least once, before the CMAPS folder will be created.
