as I drove home from wrok today, I heard on the radion that Paul Wolfovitz had told some members of the press that the reason for invading Iraq was that they were swimming in oil???

Second I heard that Berlosconi the Prime minister of Italy just had a law passed that made it impossible to sue him for what ever he may have done in the past.

I haven't heard of the first one, and it would seem odd that WOlfovitz would say anything like that.

About the second one, already knew that, and I think the law was passed a while ago. I believe the idea behind the law is that supposedly no judge is fit for judging him because no judge would be objective in this case ::)

There was some misunderstanding due to Wolfowitz's statement. This correction was issued by The Guardian on the subject:

Paul Wolfowitz

A report which was posted on our website on June 4 under the heading "Wolfowitz: Iraq war was about oil" misconstrued remarks made by the US deputy defence secretary, Paul Wolfowitz, making it appear that he had said that oil was the main reason for going to war in Iraq. He did not say that. He said, "The most important difference between North Korea and Iraq is that economically we just had no choice in Iraq. The country swims on a sea of oil." The sense was that the US had no economic options by means of which to achieve its objectives, not that the economic value of the oil motivated the war. The report appeared only on the website and has now been removed.

For the second case, we saw that often throug history and I saw more hilarious:

A minister or something close got sued for using his position to get very $$$ contracts. Let's say he got 4M$ from it. The courts said he was responsible, and gave him 60k$ to pay...
