Getting Renegade Mod to work

Alright I downloaded a Mod off www.cncammo.com

I saved it to my desktop and then moved it to the Data folder. How do I activate the mod?

How will I know what games i can use the mod in?

And how do i get the options in the order menu?

All help is welcome, first time ive used a ren mod so i dont know jack squat about what to do in the least.

You shouldn't have to do anything. Placing it in the data folder is enough. If you want to play it on your own, you'll have to settle for the fact that there are no AI. If you want to play it on a WOL server, that server needs to have the map in their cycle.

To play the map single player:

1) Connect to WOL and instead of joining a server, press host game.

2) change players to 1 (or more) and from the map cycle choose just the map(s) you want to play.

If you downloaded something else besides a map, let me know what you downloaded. Most mods come in a self extracting file.

I placed them in the data file, but still i dont see any difference

I will put up the readme for one of the mods.

It sais it works in maps like cnc city extended. Where do I get the extended maps? and it wouldent be good for me to host because i only have a 56k modem, would be laggy as hell.

Adrenaline Expansion Pack is a new Mod for Renegade wich expands all multiplayer maps

with new units, weapons, vehicles and structures.

** UPDATE NOTES **

Adrenaline Expansion Pack V4.0:

- Civilians have created a new type of Harverster, wich is used for hard transport in

difficult terrains and can also be called as "Battle Fortress". Play and you are going

to discover why.

- Recon Bike have his edition fixed and have been added to mod.

- SSM Launcher have been excluded from mod.

- New map C&C_Complex have been expanded and added to mod!

- New map C&C_Under have been expanded and added to mod!

- GDI Guard Tower have been upgraded and have now the same health as the Nod Turret.

- New Radio Alerts for the game - When a Guard Tower or Turret is hit, you will hear a new

Radio Alert: "Our base is under attack" for the respective team ONLY.

- New background for all maps that have been included until now.

Adrenaline Expansion Pack V3.2:

- New Helipad designs for both teams (Operable Helipads).

- New map C&C_Hourglass have been expanded and added to mod!

- New Repair Pads have been added in C&C_Hourglass_Expanded level (Operable Repair Pads).

- Repair Bikes and manual Repair Pads have been removed since both teams now have

automated Repair Pads.

Sard, what do you play ? Are you logging onto a server on WOL ? If so, then this will not work. The reason is that everyone needs to have this mod, especially the one who hosts.

Try hosting just for one player (you) and see if you then can get those maps in your cycle.

Are you sure doc? I went into games lately and there were new units like Recon Bikes and new buildings like repair pads and gun turrets and towers. I never downloaded any mod before this. So i am not sure how that would work. I cant host games because of my poor connection. Soon I will be getting DSL so then I can. There is another mod to get AI droped from transports in Multiplayer games. Sounds good for my use.

BTW, when i did go to host a game i looke through the setup of the game and went to the bottom menu and there was a option box with a down arrow to open a list. The menu box was titled Mod Packs. I figured all my mods that I put in would be in there and thats how to activate them but when i pushed the down arrow to open up the list the list was blank? Any idea how to get the list populated with my mods. I will take screeny to show you what i mean later.

Did you also download maps ? I know that some fan made maps have recon bikes in them for example.

And yes I'm sure. Btw, remember that some times when you're infront of the purchase terminal, there are, I believe, some arrows next to the chracter or vehicle you want to purchase. If there are, try clicking on those and see what comes forward. For example, for the sakura, havoc, mobius and some more 1000 credit characters you'll notice that arrow. If you click on it you'll see that the outfit for those characters change. I've seen it before with vehicles as well.

I think sardaukar elite meant something like: The renegade alert mod.

There's a handy option to select mods when you're hosting a game, it doesn't require you to go to LAN and host a 1 player game (except if you want to play alone)

Here's what you have to do: start renegade >> multiplayer >> gamespy arcade or westwood online >> host game >> browse through those tabs until you find on top: mod packages, make sure the mod is in your renegadedata folder, click on the dropdown list and there you can select which mod you want to play.

I looked in that list and nothing comes up. I dont know how to populate that list.

Heres another showing i have the mods. As far as I can tell I put them in the Data folder. Maybe I dident.

Just in case could you also tell me were to find the data folder. Like explore the renegade cd and look for data right. Then just drag the stuff into the data folder? Im cofused please help me out.[attachment archived by Gobalopper]

Look for the data folder in the Renegade directory on your harddrive. Place it in there.

Alright I did a search and went to the Renegade folder and found data. I opened it and heres what i found. What do I have to do looks like everythings in the folder.[attachment archived by Gobalopper]

lol, have you looked at the date the renegade skirmish options was last modified ? You're way ahead of us dude, we can't help you :)

Seriously, you seem to miss some files, which I do have in my renegade directory, but you don't. Somehow it seems you have the wrong data directory..

So there is another "data" folder?

Could you give me step by step how to get to the correct folder.

Like start>programs> etc............

Start => Programs => Accessories => Windows explorer.

Click on the plus sign infront of my computer. All you harddrives should be visible. Find the Renegade folder. Once done, if you click on the plus sign infront of Renegade, you should see some new folders. One of those folders should be the Data folder. Copy everything in there.

In your renegade data folder are all your maps and all the important stuff to run renegade located (like always.dat). My renegade/data folder is +- a GB large. :O
