"I pledge allegiance to my Flag and (to*) the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

These words were the original words to the pledge, written by Francis Bellamy, in 1892. In 1923-24 changes were made to this:

"I pledge allegiance, to the flag, of the United States of America, and to the republic, for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all."

Those words were the new original words to the pledge of allegiance. It was a statement of pride, patriotism, and united all Americans under this one nation. That is, until 1954.

In 1954, the Knights of Columbus led the campaign to include "Under God" in the Pledge, approved by Congress. Not only was this not considered unconstitutional by the Congress, but it was also not considered unconstitutional by the president at the time, Eisenhower.

The new pledge, with the included "Under God," now discriminated against all polytheists, and atheists alike. Whenever a man or woman stood up towards the flag of the United States, in order to show his or her patriotism s/he must recite a Pledge that recognizes the existence of a god.

And what for? For the Knights of Columbus to be satisfied, to have their religion instilled into the country? There is no reason to put "Under God" into the Pledge, it was perfect the way it was before 1954, the way that united all Americans, monotheists, polytheists, atheists, whatever they may be, under the flag of this country. The United States of America.

But there is good news on the horizon. The federal appeals court stands by its decision that the Pledge in public schools is unconstitutional because of the words "Under God." We will win this fight, to unite Americans once again as a whole, under the flag.

takeing out that phase wouldn't change anything. and would be religus discremenation.

I pledge allegiance to the Flag and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation, UNDER GOD, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

It would change a whole deal. It will start the beginning of the stripping of "God" from our government and country that would deem unconstitutional. It would stop the discrimination against anybody who isn't a monotheist.

and would be religus discremenation
This is the most rediculous statement ever made. Seriously. If that is religious discrimination, then the whole Constitution of the United States of America is religious discrimination.

You only oppose it, because it doesn't discriminate against you.

I pledge allegiance, to the flag, of the United States of America, and to the republic, for which it stands, one nation, under Allah, indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all."

I pledge allegiance, to the flag, of the United States of America, and to the republic, for which it stands, one nation, under Zeus, Hera, and Hades, indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all."

I pledge allegiance, to the flag, of the United States of America, and to the republic, for which it stands, one nation, under Jove, Juno, and Pluto, indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all."

I pledge allegiance, to the flag, of the United States of America, and to the republic, for which it stands, one nation, under Canada, indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all."

That last one being a joke, all of the other ones you would definitely feel to be religious discrimination, assuming you are consistent with your views. If the congress changes this to any of the above, the outcry of the montheists all over the country would be deafening. That proves my point.

You would empr.

TMA, why don't you just stop posting in my threads - as your posts are nothing to add to the discussion, and are trying to insult me. Oh I'm not offended, I wrote this whole thread because I accept discrimination against other people and myself...
