Okay, my Internet Explorer has being paying up recently. And this is the current issue.

No matter where I go, if I try to download something, it will take me to the link to the FTP location.

But then, it will either say, access forbidden, which happens anyway. Or it will come up with the page not found error. Or, it will take me to a blank page, and do nothing. For example, the patches at westwood.com. I just can't download. Nothing, why why why!!!??

You did check the security settings in IE (press "custom level" to see details) ?

Well, there is an option that can disable downloads..

what happens if you right click on the link and choose "save target as" ?

Boring question, I know, but what changed recently since it worked ?

Well, I installed a lot of things like Get Right utilities, and other things like Opera browser. But I uninstalled these and it still won't work.

Did you change anything concerning the IE settings ?

Not that I know of.

But you know, when a picture is still about to load, a little blue and red square comes u. Very small, in the left hand corner, that also comes up sometimes when I click on download links.

Its like my browser is trying to open them in a new window, rather then download them.

Try to restore the default settings in the security settings and on the advanced tab. Then try again..

Not sure, but I did what you said, and now cookies are disabled. And I can't turn them back on normally in the tools, internet options menu.

Check the "Privacy" tab..
