I recieved the Special Edition Directors Cut of Frank Herbert's DUNE (The SciFi version)staring William Hurt as a Christmas gift. I saw it when it was origionally aired on SciFi and found it rather boring. Since then I have started reading the Dune books and after watching the entire movie again I find it to be one of the best films I've seen in a while. I think that I deffinetly enjoyed this version more than the origional. Anyone else feel the same way? I can't wait for the release of Children OF Dune in March. I can only hope it's as enjoyable as the first. :)

The Special Edition DVD of the SciFi Dune was OK... I particularly liked the "Walking And Talking" deal with the director/writer as he senses today's real-world similarities between Bin Ladin and Paul Muad'dib.

Apart from that, I thought we had heard that the Special Edition DVD of the miniseries was supposed to have old interviews with Frank Herbert and such. I checked all 3 DVDs' special features and I can't find any such interviews. Ah well.

They've never shown the miniseries here. I've got the director's cut DVDs, and they are worth watching. But they need more sand and dust... there is no way the Harkonnens could (or even would) keep their bright red uniform so clean!
