Though many great activists like jesse jackson and others have made racist remarks about other races, especially concerning jews, they are not in a seat of political power like lot is. His apology is worthless because he cannot take back the words he said. If he was an outsider, a man with no true political power but only political ties like jesse jackson than an apology is all that is needed, but Trent Lott, during the 100th anaversery birthday bash for strom thurman, said that his use of segregation was required and if kept would have made things better for us currently. I will not go into the whole argument about strom being way too old and way too incapable to take a seat of power, but I will say that Trent Lott has always been one bad cookie in american politics. Most of them are. But Lott needs to back down from his seat of power. It was horrible what he said.
