If the Guild is compared to OPEC what are the other organizations compared to in Dune (book not game)?

I remember my last post... it went something like...

Atreides - Britain (NB monarchy at that time, similarity of climate to caladan, role in world/imperial afffairs - not powerful, but influential)

Corrino - US (powerful, but only be blunt means)

UN - Landsraad (NOT NATO)

I think Ix would suit Japan pretty well.

The Guild is basicly a union as many today- just much stronger.

Richese and house Talagari (or something like that) would suit Iraq pretty well (though the prequels were written long before todays affairs). Corrino attacked them openly, ignoring the Landsraad entirely. The US is about to do the same thing to Iraq.

Why does people anyway say Ix, I have never heard in the books Ix mentioned as a House. Only that House Vernius produces Ixian technology and that they live on the planet Ix.

just curious, is there something about it in some books?

In the prequels House Vernius and the planet Ix have a substantial part in the story. That's all I will say.

Hello, Nema! :) I always thought Ix was like a major corporation more than a House (either minor/major) in the Landsraad. Ok but what about the School of the Mentats, Suk doctors and still the Bene Gessert?
