Our friends over at House Noble Atreides have learned about the first test run of the game. The game was rated by a German mag entitled PC Action. They gave it a 87% in single-player and 84% in multi-player, giving it an award. They said that it had a cool atmosphere, and is very playable, but the graphics are not up to scratch. This is what you would aspect considering Dune 2000's engine is not as advanced graphically as some of the new games like TA and C&C:2. This is one of many recent interviews by Westwood who seem to be on PR stint as of late, with visits to All Games, Universal-Gaming, GamerzEdge, PC Action, and Gamesmania.

Taken from PC Action Article:

The Positives of Dune 2000

  • Brilliant background theme because of the sci-fi classical
  • Top quality videos
  • Three "races" with different mission emphasises
  • Varied and eventful missions
  • Low hardware requirements
  • Excellent playability
  • Multiplayer over Westwood Chat
  • Original C&C atmosphere
  • Building upgrades
The Negatives of Dune 2000
  • Low resolution (only 640x400)
  • No features of the 2nd generation RTS games

Other Info: 8 people multiplayer(LAN), 30 maps for multiplayer-games, 2-3 hours for each missions, 50 hours for the whole game(easy).

Interviewer: I'm an absolute fan of Dune 2, Dune, the book and the movie with the same name and therefore I'm very enthusiastic about the remake. Whereas Dune2 didn't stick to the novel, Dune2000 doesn't drift away more than the film did. Especially I liked the outstanding video-sequences. The cult-like background has a stronger attraction than both parts of the command & conquer-series. Who liked c&c will surely be happy with the new dune too. It's a pity that Westwood didn't use the new engine of c&c3 though, because graphically Dune 2000 is more than one year behind the genre-competition. Nevertheless, who likes classical RTS-games may not miss this game. (Alexander Geltenpoth, PC Action 8/98)

Once again I would like to thank House Noble Atreides and Tiberian.com who provided this.

Along with this House Noble Atreides has created a cool structure hierarchy and the best wallpaper yet, check the main page and take a look.
