Drakker has informed me about some news on the patch of Dune 2000, this is from UGN:

For all of you having problems with playing Dune 2000 through Westwood Online. You need to start Dune 2000, select multiplayer and start a special Westwood Chat for Dune only! Do this while Westwood Chat is closed. Now when this is behind us. Westwood will be releasing a patch for Dune 2000 in about 2 weeks. It'll include fixes to bugs and may also improve internet play. If it still won't satisfy you, Kail will support Dune 2000 real soon!
