Stefan has once again updated on the progress of Arrakis, his Dune game. A lot has happened since the last update, read below for the update:

No problems! Don't know how but it seems to be solved for now. Added again somethings:

  • Build now units from a Factory.
  • Also the upgrade stuff is done!
Also i am thinking about a program that let you edit a lot of Arrakis. So you can create your 'own' dune game, e.g.:
  • You can edit how much time it takse to harvest one cell (1 cell = 100 credits)
  • You can edit the prizes of units and buildings
  • You can edit the unit graphics (so you can create own graphics packs, i will add the real dune 2 pack, but it will not be used as standart because of westwood copyrights!)
  • You can edit maps. Units etc etc
  • Edit graphics of Buildings
  • Set difficult settings, e.g.
  • Normal will raise the prizes with 100 credits
  • And more!

The FIRST version will have a AI like RA, it will build a base , build a bunch of units and will attack you! The final version will have a MUCH smarter AI. So the ai will attack from behind. And will attack harvesters. Also using nukes or other special weapons.

I will keep inform you, though i am very busy programming now. It is really going fast now!

I am now busy adding the AI for Arrakis. First i tried to create an own thinking program but that took too much code and memory, and it didn't work very well. So i have decided that the AI will act via AI files. There will be an editor for the Ai too.

The AI files are telling the computer what to build, and how to attack. This way you will have a very smart AI and it is much easier then to group them into Easy/Normal/Hard

For now, the computer can only build its base via the AI files.

Looks like progress is coming along quickly!
