I received an interesting reply to the poll and thought I would share some of it. I'm not sure how many people do not realize that Dune 2 was the first real time strategy game that was popular. Most of the games you see today have taken some of their ideas from Dune 2 and not the other way around. Here is the message, complete with my answers:

Westwood copied off of Starcraft/Brood War. Starcraft is 4 years old. Warcraft(the first strat game for cpu) is about hmm 5-6. Blizzard made the 1st strat games.

Well Westwood may have copied of of Starcraft, we'll have to wait for Tiberian Sun to see if thats true though. Warcraft wasn't the first RTS game, Dune 2 was.

All westwood did is copy off other people. Such as : In dune the siege tank. Starcraft has a "long range" Siege tank too. Another example. The name starport. In starcraft the race Terran always had the orginal Starport.

Dune 2 had the Seige Tank, it came first. The long range Artillery was in Command & Conquer, it came out before Starcraft. The Starport was used in Dune 2 as well, although having a Starport in Starcraft makes sense.

Yes dune is old but the units is new you haft to admit that.

Dune is old but nearly all the units in Dune 2000 are also found in Dune 2.

Also dune oringaly had 2 races. But Starcraft has 3 so they copy. In the books its hark. and attr (i think hehe the movie had the too). So they haft to add 1 more.

Dune 2 had three races; Ordos, Harkonnen, and Atreides. Ordos are not in the books but are based on a House found in the Dune Universe and have been there since the beginning.

It seems that this person has forgotten about Dune 2, remember Dune is what started the RTS genre!
