Just got back from work to find that Jurrian has released a new version of his Domination map editor. There are some important changes in this version since it adds a new tileset that is not supported by other editors. Because of this there is a new file format that at this time can only be used by the Domination editor. I will let the info found in Domination help file explain it further, be sure to read it after downloading Domination from the editors page.

About The Tilesets:

What does having more tilesets mean?

More tilesets basically means you can have all the graphical features supplied by the game. Know those ice mountains from the single player missions? Well, you can make the in your own maps with Domination (once i get that darn BLOXICE tileset converted)

All the other tilesets offer different extras like big rocks, dead worms etc. You can give your map a more unique look.

The .DMP Map Format:

To support multiple tilesets, it was obvious that Domination should have it`s own map format. I know it is not comfortable since there already is the SHM format used by Shai Hulud.

The main reason for me to go for the new format is that the other editors don`t support the additional tilesets. I hope this explains it a little. NOTE: DOMINATION DOES NOT SUPPORT .SHM FILES, SHAI HULUD DOES NOT SUPPORT DMP FILES. THEY ARE UTTERLY AND TOTALLY INCOMPATIBLE. So don`t even try opening a DMP file in Shai Hulud / MED2K if that`s at all possible. You have been warned.

I added some nice features to the .DMP format, for example you can password lock your information, so other people won`t be able to edit it and say it`s their own map without supplying the right password. Also, you can specify what type of map it is (SM, MED, LRG or XL) That information will be automatically appended to your map description on activation.

You can only save in .DMP map format if you have not selected BLOXBGBS (the default) as your current tileset. You can however safe a BLOXBGBS tileset map in .DMP format so you can have the advantage of locking your map.

Changes Made:

To make Dune 2000 understand it shouldn`t be so dumb and only let it`s own map use a tileset other than BLOXBGBS, I had to make a couple of changes to the Dune2000.dat file. Sorry, but it`s the only way possible for you to play multiple tilesets, so no changes, no more tilesets.

The Domination Activator will automatically do these changes, if you activate your first .DMP map. For most people it should be a totally transparent proces. JUST TO BE SAFE, MAKE A BACKUP COPY OF YOUR DUNE2000.DAT FILE BEFORE DOING ANY .DMP ACTIVATION.

NOTE: - YOU NEED TO HAVE THE US 1.06 PATCH INSTALLED. IT WILL NOT WORK ON ANY OTHER LANGUAGE VERSIONS (I HAVEN`T TRIED IT, THEY WILL BE SUPPORTED IN THE FUTURE)

FIX - Fixed incorrect scrollbar range setting so you would be able to scroll more then there were brushes resulting in "No more brushes" error dialog.

ADDED - Domination now has a splash screen. Thanks to DAFGUYY for pasting on the text.

ADDED - Save before exit dialog.

ADDED - Warning before file overwrite dialog.

FIX - Erasing now gets properly updated in the mini map screen.

FIX - Auto append .map extension on saving when you don`t supply it yourself.

ADDED - Save As option is now enabled, and some shortcuts in the menu.

ADDED - The filter buttons now look cooler thanks to Anton

ADDED - THE GOOD NEWS: DOMINATION SUPPORTS ALL TILESETS. BLOXWAST IS NOW SUPPORTED. THE BAD NEWS: I DIDN`T HAVE THE TIME TO CONVERT THEM ALL, SO WHEN I GET A NEW ONE DONE, I`LL PUT AN UPDATE OUT. BE PATIENT PLEASE :)

ADDED - Domination now has a map format to call it`s own. When you see .dmp file, you know it`s a genuine Domination map. Don`t try to open it in any other of the editors, there`s no telling what they might do. See
