Well the website for the Dune miniseries, located at scifi.com/dune, has finally gotten a overhaul as promised. There are a lot of changes and additions so its worth a look.

There is now an email address where you can send writer/director John Harrison a question, each week one of those will be answered. There was also a chat yesterday with John and I heard the transcript of that will be posted soon. From what I understand it went very well and that the miniseries will follow the novels fairly closely.

For those of you looking for pictures of Rabban they have added him to the gallery, pretty gruesome as you would expect.

Some desktop wallpapers have been added, I believe they are 800x600.

There is an interview with Phillip Seeger, a stand-in for the miniseries, as well. It gives some information from the set, here is an outtake.

How close does the film follow the book?

I'm actually very impressed with the job they've done on the screenplay. It seems very, very close. There are a few details I've noticed they haven't been able to put in, but nothing important has been left out. I was very impressed when I read the screenplay how closely [writer/director John Harrison] has matched the book. Plus, when people at home get to see it, they'll see the amazing sets they've built for it that also help encompass the imagination inherent in the book. Plus all the acting I've seen here has been amazing too, so I think not only does the screenplay encompass a lot of the spirit of the book, but the sets, the set decorating and the good job they did casting people in the different roles also helps bring the imagination of the actual book to make this production of Dune more complete.

That is it for now but there is bound to be more additions over the next while. I have also heard that there will be a international release of the miniseries on DVD, probably VHS as well, after the original showing in December. I should have more info after I get a copy of the chat transcript.
