Meatball, a moderator on the official Emperor Messageboard, has answered a very interesting question, one that I was personally thinking of. Here it is:

Q: What type of game play is WW aiming for with this game? Are they trying to go fast paced like RA2? Or are they aiming for slower more stratigic stratagys. What games does dune3 compair too. Is WW going for more fantasic tech, visuels and story, or just a really really fun game? How does WW want people describing Dune3 after playing it, in more depth than just saying thats it's a good game. Answers to these questions will help give me a better picture of the game in my mind

A: Emperor will not play as fast as RA2. This was a design decision from the beginning to differentiate the strategic experience from the C&Cs. You will end up caring a little more about each unit you produce. The quality of your tactics will figure in more than the quantity of units you can produce. Just a tad more grey matter and a little less twitch. Don't worry though - it's still real-time; if you loved RA2 (and I know you all will), you'll dig on Emperor too.

So there we have it, more care for individual units and strategic tactics rather than RA2, where you build a lot of units. Personally I always loved that. It adds a lot more realism to the game and you don't have that issue of micromanagement. Thats only for RA2!

Speaking of the topic of the Official Message Board, all you Emperor fans should go there and sign up. There are always new posts and most are about the game itself. And sometimes a moderator, who knows information about the game, will answer a good question.
