The miniseres has been aired (American version anyway) and the reviews are pouring in. I want to thank everyone who has submitted one so far and encourage others to do the same. So far the general consensus is that it didn't follow the book nearly as well as was expected and the acting (and casting) was below par. However, its interesting to see that the people who didn't like the miniseries are either fans of the book or movie, most others seemed to really enjoy it.

I just hope you who have seen it and are being extremely critical realize that unless you yourself manage to get a blank check from a major studio you are never going to get a version of Dune that is identical to what you have always imagined it to be, and sometimes having a cast of relative unknowns is better than having a cast of big shots who try to out do each other every scene. I went into Dune expecting it to suck the first time I read it and I think that's one of the reasons it seemed so incredibly good to me, while others went into this miniseries expecting it to be everything they imagined and were disappointed (you can see this on the official forum). Now I'm not saying any of you are wrong, I haven't seen it yet so I can't comment on it, but I do ask that you try to be impartial in your reviews, unlike the person who threatened to stalk and kill John Harrison becuase of what he had done or the other who wanted to hang him from his... you get the idea. In the end I think the best part of this miniseries will be that it will bring many more people into the Duniverse and expose them to the greatest science fiction prose ever conceived.

For those of you who missed parts of it it can be seen again on Dec. 10. In about a week I will post the full consensus of what you either posted or e-mailed to me.
