PCgameplay Plays Emperor

PCgameplay has posted a great preview of their experience playing Emperor. It contains a lot of good information and gives a good overview of what you can expect, check a clip below:

And since variety is the 'spice' of life, things don't stop there. Lots of units employ both offensive and defensive modes depending on how you see fit. For example, Atreides infantry can go blazing into battle with their sidearm pistols, or they can be made to hold position and fire with guided missile launchers.

With so much going on it's unsurprising that things can get a little bit hectic and confusing in the middle of a battle although, to be fair, if we had a bit more time to spend practicing the game system would no doubt become a lot more intuative. We can't argue however with the way the game has been transferred over to 3D - it's faultless. In fact you'll wonder how you ever played at all in boring 2D. And if it's looking and playing this well at this stage, it seems hard to imagine that it will be anything short of excellent when it finally comes out.

Guess we'll all have to wait till June this year then, when we can finally find out for ourselves.

Be sure to give this a read if you are at all interested in the game, probably one of the better previews so far.
