Westwood has finally posted the first unit-of-the-week for Atreides month, check out the details of the Mongoose below:

When the Mongoose first 'walked' out of the main Atreides' production plants on Caladan, many field commanders questioned whether an upright walking vehicle would prove effective on the shifting, unstable terrain in the deep deserts of Arrakis. Horror stories had circulated among the ranks that walking designs, like the Harkonnen Devastator, would trip, slip or sink too easily out on the sandy dunes. The Atreides' High Command wanted to combine the light-weight mobility of an infantryman with the increased firepower delivered by a heavy tracked vehicle. After an amazingly short conception and design period, the Mongoose emerged. Inspired loosely by the tenacious mammal found on Earth millennia ago, the Mongoose serves as a nimble frontline anti-vehicle unit. Although lightly-armored, the craft is quite resistant to damage due to the carbon-composite endo-skeleton wrapped around the cramped one-man cockpit. Damage is dealt through a turret-mounted, long-range guided missile launcher used to pick off enemies from a distance and while moving at high speeds. The Mongoose can fill numerous critical roles, from advanced area recon to long-range support to hit-and-run raids. It is no surprise that the Duke keeps his frontline efforts well supplied with Mongooses at all times.

Looks like this is taking over the role of the Quad from previous Dune games, check out a rendering of the unit here.
