Information on both of Cryo's Dune games has been posted by GameSpot. First up is the coverage of Frank Herbert's Dune the game being developed by Wide Screen Games. The news article details some of their experience playing part of the game, mainly a scene you can see in the preview movie we mentioned earlier, where you try to outrun a Sandworm. According to them the game is about 20% complete at this point and say that the games strong point will be in how well it will recreate the atmosphere of the novels.

GameSpot also posted a big interview with Cryonetorks the people behind Dune Generations. It is a good interview and definelty worth reading, below is a portion that I am sure will interest fans of the Dune novels:

GS: Are any of the members of the development team fans of Westwood Studios' series of Dune games?

TL: We particularly like Dune II, which was a real pioneer in terms of RTS [real-time strategy] games. However, the atmosphere and design were too far from Frank Herbert's novels. Regarding Dune Generations, we decided not to develop a simple RTS game but included political, economic, and diplomatic aspects to be faithful to Frank Herbert's universe.

After reading this the game looks like it could be pretty impressive if all goes well. Both games are scheduled for late 2001 releases.
