Bunch O' Stuff

A few things to round up tonight. First up IGN has completed day 2 of Emperor week holding an interview with Frank Klepacki. There are three music tracks available which I think are new, in wav format, so they are pretty big. I will look into converting them to mp3 format for those of you with slower connections.

The official site has also posted two new screenshots, showing what looks to be the Ordos superweapon in action. The weird thing is the number of "lightning strikes", when I played the game there was only one but these show up to three... Check out the Atreides base and the Ordos base under attack.

I have two images taken from a magazine, I have no clue how I got these now... I think someone sent them in, if it was you let me know. :)

Anyway they contain some pretty cool shots of the Sandworms and I think Sardaukar, so check them out below:

And finally a post by Chris Longpre about how Mahdi really needs to get a new computer. BTW I am sure Mahdi is more then willing to accept donations. :)

Integrated 3D chips are not that suitable for games. In this case, its even using the PCI bus (from what I can tell), and only allows it to tap into 4MB of system memory. MahdiDLA will need to upgrade his video-card. It is likely that he can just plug in a newer card, and use it on his existing computer, provided it meets the rest of the min-spec requirements.

Another note, some integrated chips use the AGP bus, and therefore can tap into system memory. We do not officially support those chips, as they are below the 16MB VRAM min spec, but if you have extra RAM (and preferably fast RAM), then you may still see playable performance. I'll also note that integrated 3D chips with below min-spec VRAM may have trouble with alt-tab'ing in/out of Emperor.. and that the problem may be part drivers/part hardware.

I'm still seeing some great 16MB VRAM cards on the online price watch sites, which sell for around $80... and are very fast cards (i.e. Geforce2 MX, etc.)

p.s. BTW, if you do have 2 3D cars in your system, and Direct3D has the slow one as your Primary, you can always use -ALTVID on the Emperor shortcut to select the 2ndary Direct3D display card. - LINK

Thats about it for this post, check later for the poll results.
