I finally got a chance to play the demo for Frank Herbert's Dune today and it certainly isn't worth downloading unless you have a high-speed connection. I don't know where to start since nearly everything about it sucked.

First off it looks to be meant more for the console then the PC, it even has buttons in the interface from the PS2, and it isn't very stable either. Worst of all is the horrible camera angles/control used and on top of that it is next to impossible to get your character to go where you want him too.

The AI isn't very smart, you can basically run right up behind them and they won't hear you coming, the only time you run into trouble is if they see you and then it's next to impossible to get away without dying since the controls are all messed up.

Basically this is a warning to anyone who downloads the demo, don't expect much, I sure hope the final version is better but that doesn't look likely since the game is supposed to be out in September.

Update: Well according to DreamCatchers website the demo was meant only for corporate use and wasn't supposed to be posted to their site, here is the post from the site:

Please notice that the "Dune demo" file that was available for download a few hours ago was not a fully functionnal demo but a work in progress (a WIP) on which the developers are still working to release a hit game in keeping with the notorious Dune universe.

This demo, meant for corporate use only, was posted by mistake on our website and we apologise to all the Dune fans who downloaded it expecting a fully functional demo version. All IA behaviours, all voice weapons and all particle effects are still in early stages of development, and therefore are not in line.

Please trust that we will keep you updated on the date of release of the final Frank Herbert's Dune playable demo.

What I can't figure out is how the game is going to be released in Fall 2001 if parts of the game are still in the early stages of development.
