In case you didn't already know barely anyone plays Emperor online. I don't know if this means no one plays the game anymore, I assume there are still some of you playing single player, at least I hope some are. Looking through the ladder rankings you can see that Emperor has fewer players online then games that were released over 5 years ago. Check out this tally I did of the official Westwood ladders:

1. Red Alert 2 -> 74872 (2000)

2. Tiberian Sun -> 14349 (1999)

3. Red Alert -> 7015 (1996)

4. Firestorm -> 3028 (2000)

5. C&C Gold -> 2299 (1997)

6. Emperor -> 1731 (2001)

7. Nox -> 721 (2000)

8. Dune 2000 -> 471 (1998)

9. Sole Survivor -> 198 (1997)

10. Nox Quest -> 168 (2000)

Well at least it's ahead of Sole Survivor! :)

I don't really have a definite answer to why the numbers are so low. I suspect it has something to do with the higher requirements and probably the problems Emperor had when it was first released. Sorta sad to see a game like this have interest wane so quickly. There is a fairly small group of players that do enjoy the game, I just don't know how long they will stick around if the numbers continue to drop, it's starting to remind me of Dune 2000...
