Its that time of year again. Birds have flown south. Leaves have fallen off the trees. There's snow in Mexico. And news concerning a new Dune miniseries has begun to crop up. For those of you who don't remember, even before last years Dune minseries broke all-time viewership records for the sci-fi channel, and earned its place as one of the top ten viewed miniseries of the last five years, director John Harrison had already begun creating a script for the sequel. Now, several months after the script for the miniseries was finished, the sci-fi channel has finally greenlighted it, according to Sci-Fi Wire, AOl, (credit Jason Meyers for that link), and several other internet news agencies. Production will begin in Prague in spring 2002, with the final airdate set for 2003, which is a bit different, as the series had previously been expected to air December 2002. So far, the only confirmed cast/crew member to return is the executive producer, Richard P. Rubinstein. However, all the actors who have surviving characters are contracted to appear in this sequel. Whether that includes Ian McNiece who played the Baron is not known. Whether John Harrison will direct it once again is still up in the air as well.
