GameSpy on Strategy Games

GameSpy has posted the first part of a feature article on the history of strategy games. Today's article deals with the early days of RTS gaming ... and no article on the history of RTS would be complete without mentioning Dune II. ;)

"'I feel that Dune II was the mother of the 'modern' RTS genre,' says Rob Pardo, Warcraft III's producer. "Most RTS games today can find many of their design roots in this game."

The Gob wanted me to mentioned another interesting article - he is still celebrating Canada's win over the US in the gold medal ice hockey match. :P This one, by Gamespot, is on the controversial topic of "abandonware" (downloading old games that are not "supported" by their publishers) since Dune and Dune II fall in this category.
