Cryo, the computer game company responsible for Dune, Frank Herberts Dune, and the parent company of Cryonetworks, the makers of Dune Generations, is facing severe financial woes. According to reports, they lost 16.5 million euros last year, and trade on their stocks (worth .90 Euro's) has been suspended. So far, the future of the company is not clear. According to this article, the company has already folded. However, according to a translation from the French Dune Generations forums, one of the developers said that although they are facing financial setbacks, they are in fact continuing to work, and are actually working that much harder on such games as Generations. In order to find out what is actually going on, I have e-mailed Florent Claudy over in the PR department of Cryo in the hopes that he can at least say whether or not the company is still in buisness or not. I will continue to search for more information about this. Soon the truth should be known, one way or another.

Special thanks to Iceman VAC for posting the Game Industry Biz link, JRMx and Lord Gauthier for posting English translations of French articles/posts.

Good luck Cryo.
