I install Emperor with no problem on Win Xp and play several game without problem

Now I change my screen and put the screen at 1600 x 1200 and when I run the game I have only a black screen.

How can I change my screen resolution without running the game ?

I do not really get your question..

If you change your desktop resolution, doesn't mean the game resolution changes as well. It's done seperately.

If you want to change the ingame graphical settings, I'd suggest to lower your desktop resolution and then try to see how high you can put the ingame graphical settings..
