opponents differences

does it matter what AI opponents i play against? (vanderbilt, fisk etc.) do they have special play styles or boni? the manual seems to indicate that, but i find no detailed information on that topic.

Yes. They sure do. They are called tycoon traits in the manuals.

 

In the game's folder you should have the file: Strategy Guide. It's in Chapter 3 which will be somewhere around page 20. There's a table with full listings for all the chairmen.
