Changing the color for a specific side

Hi all, since I have embaked on a quest of making the smugglers missions, I would also like to add say the Ixians and Thailaxu. For this I would like to change the color for a specific side. Is that possible, and if so, how?

color remaps are saved in colors.bin

with hex editor you can edit all bin files

Each color got 2bytes I think, file size is 256bytes so you should have 128 colors

 

Try to change the first 2 bytes of the file, then open the game and try all 8 colors

 

0x00 0x00 should be black

What if I change the color in the map and mission editor. I mean the house allocation number to lets say to 139 it would be brown, right?

I never messed around with these allocation numbers, but i don't think you can set them higher as 7

It's possible to use a number higher than 7, but the colours you will get are going to be a bit glitchy.

 

For example. Index 10 gives you black colour with a bit of red.

1º problem: They are black in the radar (very hard to see them).

2º problem: If you deploy a VCM, the game crash.

3º problem (this happen only out of gruntmod): If you use the wrench icon to send you units to the repair pad, the game can crash.

 

Another examples: 131 gives you Harkonnen with weird colours but they are visible in the radar. The problem is the Troopers, when they look to the bottom half of his body looks weird.

Most the time the numbers just make you become Atreides and your units/buildings black and the game crash if you try to deploy a VCM.

 

A few numbers seems to work without crashing, although I don't know if there is any clean colour there.
