I have recently purchased a crossover cable so that i could just directly connect the two computers i have gotten the two computers set up and are able to ping each other but still cannot see the other player have googled for help but none of it has worked, i have turned off the firewalls and everything but still the wonderful D2k fights me anythoughts would be appreciated. Thanks

What operating system? A router is always the best option.

I had a toshiba Vista 32 bit and a dell XP 32 bit. I had the same problem. Aparrantly, they hate each other. If this is your situation, your better off using a router. I tried wifi adhoc networks too and it didn't work. Stuff Microsoft and their lack of backwards compatibility.

desktop is using Xp and the Lap is using Vista, by going through the router the lan button doesnt even come up even though the two coms can see each other
