easiest way is using that hamachi program it is simple to set up and for anyone else to play with you all they have to do is download the program and type in the server you create and its password. To create a server on the program is as easy as can be follow the start up guide it gives you and youll be running in no time

desktop is using Xp and the Lap is using Vista, by going through the router the lan button doesnt even come up even though the two coms can see each other

I have recently purchased a crossover cable so that i could just directly connect the two computers i have gotten the two computers set up and are able to ping each other but still cannot see the other player have googled for help but none of it has worked, i have turned off the firewalls and everything but still the wonderful D2k fights me anythoughts would be appreciated. Ok so i am having a problem trying to connect a desktop using xp and a laptop using Vista in order to play d2k i have downloaded all the patches and upgraded version just to be able to add Ipx/spx onto vista and upgraded the game to 1.06. I also upgrade to 1.06 on xp. then i downloaded hamachi and got the two coms set up on a server. Well your supposed to change the frame type to 802.2 and did all of that for the xp but since the vistas is just a patch it doesnt come with properties. I have tried auto detect, all the framing options, firewall takedown,even did a crossover cable to no avail. So if anyone has any thoughts i would be most grateful i spent four hours on this last night hopefully it will only take me about 6 to figure it out today :P
